The roots are dug in spring or autumn, but autumn herbs are of better quality. They are dried in the sun and cut into pieces. They are similar to ginseng. They have been shown to boost red blood cell and haemoglobin. Mainly used as a tonic in anaemia, fatigue, shallow and strained breathing, poor appetite and dyspepsia.
Invigorate lung-qi and spleen-qi, nourish blood, and promote the generation of body fluid.
